I Think My Child May Have Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury What Would That Mean
Orthopedic consult: The anterior cruciate ligament is a key ligament in the knee for stability both going front and back as well as rotationally. Your child would have complaints of giving way, pain, swelling and lack of confidence in using that knee during activity. I recommend you see your local orthopedic surgeon and if possible one fellowship trained in sports medicine. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

If a MRI says that I have a displaced medial meniscus does that mean I have a tear of the meniscus? I have been having painful clicking and catching
Most likely, yes: A "displaced meniscu"s really means a displaced meniscus tear. Displacement cannot really happen without the meniscus having been torn. Usually the meniscus tears in the "white zone:, called so because it lacks a blood supply and therefore cannot heal. Occasional, ly , tears occur in the "red zone" and can be sewn together; time is of the essence in the repair of "red zone" tears. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My MRI says that I have a slight superior displacement of the meniscal root. Does that mean I have a tear? Where is the meniscal root anyway?
Meniscal root: The meniscal root is where the meniscus attaches to the top of the shin bone. Most often, when an MRI shows an abnormally positioned meniscal root, the implication is that there's a tear. However, it is possible the abnormal position could be an anatomic variant, meaning it's just the way you're put together.
