What to do if i broke my nose 2 years ago?

What to do if i broke my nose 2 years ago?

Broken Nose: A broken nose can be fixed for two reasons - change in appearance and change in breathing. If your nose looks different since the fracture or you are having trouble breathing since the fracture, these are the two main reasons to have nose surgery. Most ents and plastic surgeons perform nose surgery, but ask the doctor if they perform the cosmetic and the breathing correction surgery frequently. ...Read more

Hi, I broke my foot 2 years ago. I've recently taken up dancing again and now where I previously broke it hurts a lot even after 5 mins. What can I do to stop the aching/pain?

Hi, I broke my foot 2 years ago. I've recently taken up dancing again and now where I previously broke it hurts a lot even after 5 mins. What can I do to stop the aching/pain?

Anti-inflammatory: Your dancing likely increased the stress on that healed fracture, causing it to become sprained and inflamed. I suggest taking over the counter anti-inflammatories such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen (if you don't have any allergies or bad reactions to these medications). If it still continues to hurt, I would suggest seeing your physician for an exam and possibly X-rays. ...Read more

I fractured my fibula 6 weeks ago. I know it is healed now. What swimming exercises can I do to get my cafe back to normal. ?

Normal healing time.: Hi! Although approximately 6 weeks is a normal fracture healing time it can take a bit longer. How are you sure it is fully healed? Have you had followup x - rays, evaluation? Generally swiiming would be an excellent exercise in this case as it is NON - weight bearing so any swimming should be ok - no diving just yet. General rule: start easy and increase as comfort, lack of new symptoms allows. ...Read more

The : The elbow, as you know from your experience, is a very complex joint(s) and in some ways behaves differently and is more complex than other joints. I.E risk of heterotopic bone formation (ho) you have options but need to be evaluated very carefully and with someone with extensive experience with elbows. One option for example is removal of the implant without replacement. As with any option this has both advantages and disadvantages i.E main one being the radius can migrate proximally. You and your doctor will have to weigh risks of leaving things as is versus risks of complications going in again i.E ho, radial nerve injury etc.. ...Read more

I just had surgery to fix my tibial avulsion fracture. I cant do PT for 5 weeks (12 weeks total since break). How do I minimize the atrophy in my leg?

I just had surgery to fix my tibial avulsion fracture. I cant do PT for 5 weeks (12 weeks total since break). How do I minimize the atrophy in my leg?

This is difficult: There aren't too many exercises you can do to avoid atrophy after surgery especially if you are limited in your activities (ie weight bearing vs non-weight bearing). The type of cast or splint you are in and type of surgery may also limit the activities you can do. If it is ok to do quad sets or straight leg raises with the splint or cast on, this can help prevent atrophy of the quadriceps. ...Read more

Once : Once your cast is removed, you may find that your hand is a bit weak and stiff. Some rehabilitation will probably be required, and you might even need physical therapy to regain the full use of your hand (most people recover just fine with a home program of exercises and stretches). It's also important to remember that it will take several months for the fractured bone to return to its full strength, so relatively minor injuries could re-fracture this finger. Therefore, your orthopedic surgeon may ask you to refrain from playing basketball for a while, or he/she might want you to wear a soft splint until your fracture has remodeled. Ask your surgeon about the specifics of your recovery. Good luck! ...Read more

I got boxer fracture for the 2nd time. What can I do to prevent another fracture?

I got boxer fracture for the 2nd time. What can I do to prevent another fracture?

Bad Punch Technique?: Assuming osteoporosis is not a factor, most boxer's fractures come from poor fist fighting technique. With a boxing glove, the most effective punch is the roundhouse, hooking type that get ist power from centrifugal force. That same punch thrown without a padded glove results in the angled fracture of the outer hand bones behind the knuckles of the 4/5th finger. Use a linear straight punch! ...Read more

I recently had surgery on my ankle and I have stitches inside my foot. I am wondering if i would be able to tell if they tore. Would the area swell ?

Depends: Really depends on the nature of your surgery. Any suture can tear. Some suture is permanent and some dissolvable. I would typically think that you would have a tearing sensation if you tore the inner sutures followed by a component of pain and swelling. I would talk to your surgeon if you are concerned. ...Read more
