Stabbing pain?: You may have a variant of what are usually called stabbing headaches....except in this case the location of choice is behind your ear. Another possibility if the irritation of some small nerve twiglet behind your ear which for some reason is getting tweaked or stretched for some reason and then, it calls out to you....and you JUMP! See neurologist for further workup...maybe headache specialist. ...Read more

Sprain: If your injury was severe enough to cause a head injury, it is likely you injured the ligaments between your head and your neck. The mucles of the neck attatch to the bones of the head and can be very painful until healed. A year is sufficient time to heal this pain with the physical therapy you have probobly undergone. See a physiatrist for more help. Consider prolotherapy injections. ...Read more

How do I know if I have a serious head injury i got hit in head 5 times in different places from punches. There is only one spot that hurts when i touch and that is the temple. I don't know if I have the " battle sign" behind my ear but its starting to hu

Hello. : Hello. I can't diagnose your condition. I am assuming that you did not have a loss of consciousness since it was not mentioned. You could have a mild concussion without loss of consciousness. You might feel dazed, have blurred vision, nausea or vomiting, headache, confusion ad problems with your short term memory. A more significant injury could present with loss of consciousness, recurrent vomiting, persistent confusion, restlessess, feeling weak, a bad headache, loss of memory, slurred speech, feeling very tired and inability to walk. A basilar skull fracture requires a lot of force and can present with the “battle sign” bruising over the mastoid process. There can also be raccoon eyes (two black eyes) and clear liquid leaking from the nose or ears. If these things apply, then you may have a serious injury and should get medical attention. ...Read more

No: Occasionally sinus rinses will force bacteria or fungus into other areas including the brain. They are not recommended. Gentle saline spray may help or topical steroids. The sinuses can be difficult to treat and sometimes require drainage. Ask for an ENT opinion. ...Read more

I have been dealing with what seems to be a sinus infection. With symptoms of ear pain, fullness in face/head sinus discharge, congestion, cough and headaches on and off and I seem to be swallowing mucus and shortly after my throat begins to become sore.

Need to be seen: abx would be the easiest way to treat a sinus infection. but if you want to do something at home, I would recommend sinus rinse 2-3 times per day. that should also clear a sinus infection as well, but it will take longer ...Read more
