Not sure: Possibly the splint is not applied properly or in correct position. If it for a fracture, perhaps a well padded thumb spica cast might be more comfortable. One should actually be more comfortable if an injury is immobilized in a splint or cast in the proper position check with your ortho if not better. ...Read more

You are likely to worry to age five just because premi's do that to moms sometimes. Your pediatrician should be monitoring these issues.
