More information: Is the mass red? Warm to touch? How long has it been there? You really need to have a doctor LOOK at it and get some more information about the nature of this mass. Thoracic pain: Sounds like you need to have a proper work-up for your thoracic spine pain. Years of pain is not normal! your doctor will likely performs physical exam and may order imaging based in your symptoms (x-ray, mri). They will also likely send you to physical therapy if you haven't done this. Conservative medications may be in order and you may consider: chiropractic, acupuncture, massage...
