I'm having nose bleed after head injury but not hit in nose, normal?

I'm having nose bleed after head injury but not hit in nose, normal?

Depends: "Head injury" doesn't mean the same thing to doctors as it means to laypeople. But practically speaking, whenever you have an unexplained nosebleed you should have it checked out. The blood may be coming from behind your nose. And even if it's coming FROM your nose, the nasal septum is supplied by 3 arteries, so whatever the cause, you can lose a lot of blood if it's not controlled. ...Read more

Can i stop the pain and thumping from nerve damage that occured from a car accident ? Head on collision, broken leg and ankle.

Pain control: Are you certain the cause of pain is nerve damage? Pain and thumping suggest an injury to muscle, joint or bone. Sometimes when nerves are injured they cause a feeling of burning, shocking or tingling. The pain of these two conditions is treated differently. Many pain medicines help with orthopedic injuries, gabapentin and amitriptyline sometimes help nerve pain. ...Read more

Can a bleed in the brain develop days after injury from fall?

Can a bleed in the brain develop days after injury from fall?

Yes: Sub-acute bleeding by definition is bleeding that occurs 3 -21 days after the injury or fall. I do not know the frequency of these types of bleeds but they do occur. Thus, after any head injury, even if rhe acute ct or MRI scan is negative, the patient needs to be watched for a few weeks afterward by family and friends and follow up with their primary doctor for rechecks. ...Read more

How long after hitting your head would you notice signs of bleeding in brain? Hit head on corner of concrete wall 7 hrs ago. Have a headache.

variable: This depends on the size and location of the "bleed." something large or in more eloquent areas would probably be noticeable sooner than a small one in not-as-important areas. Very small one might not be noticed at all.In severe cases, you could lose consciousness. Also, if a hemorrhage grows, it could become more noticeable. Somethings can progress over minutes/hours, while others can take days. ...Read more

21 weeks pregnant. Pain in temple when bending down or coughing. No head injury. Possible causes?

Sinus congestion: When discomfort in the head or temple area as you describe occurs upon postural changes then, the most likely explanation is that of increased pressure in the head causing expansion of fluid which may be in your sinuses. You didn't mention headaches or visual issues so i don't think it's anything more serious. Be on the watch for other symptoms to report though to your doctor. All the best. ...Read more

Can hitting your head cause brain aneurysm? Mild to severe head trauma with pain resolution after 4 minutes.

Can hitting your head cause brain aneurysm? Mild to severe head trauma with pain resolution after 4 minutes.

No, not possible.: No, trauma to the head cannot cause an aneurysm. But I want to make sure we are using the terms in a similar fashion. An aneurysm is an unstable blood vessel, a bleed in the brain is a different process. A hard enough trauma could cause bleeding in the brain or it could (rarely) cause rupture of an existing aneurysm. ...Read more

Hard hit to head 3 weeks ago. Ct scan 2 hours after hit was clear of bleeding. Having bad head and back of the neck pain now. Worried about stroke.

Take reassurance: A stroke isn't likely to be causing head and neck pain; they tend to manifest with motor/sensory problems or speech issues. If you suffered that significant/traumatic a blow to the head this could be post-concussive symptoms. You really should see your primary care doctor as they should be able to help minimize some of the symptoms and make sure nothing more worrisome is going on. ...Read more

Even : Even if you are a physician, and it doesn't sound as if you are, you can't be your own physician. You need to see a doctor, one who will thoroughly evalute you for acute brain injuries and perhaps order ct or MRI scans to see what injury may be present to the skull or the brain. Whether your injuries are from sports (boxing, other types of combat sports) or an assault you need to be properly assessed. Don't delay. ...Read more
